Our commitment to a sustainable future
“For lixtec, sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a core value that shapes our business. As a developer and manufacturer of radar sensors for motion detection in public lighting, we are aware of our responsibility to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. Our products enable light on demand, thereby avoiding energy wastage and unnecessary light emissions. This not only supports the achievement of national and international climate targets, such as the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but also helps to improve the quality of life in communities and cities. We are convinced that innovative technology and sustainable thinking go hand in hand and that through our work we can make a positive contribution to a future worth living.”

ESG Rating
2024: Grade ‘B’ in the overall performance index = good sustainability performance
CO2 Emissions
In 2023, lixtec caused 32.2 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Product Carbon Footprint
The production of a lix.one sensor generates approximately 4.74 kg of CO2.
UN Goals
UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities.
Smart street lighting for a sustainable future
The product carbon footprint of a lix.one sensor of approx. 4.74 kg CO2 is offset by a considerable annual CO2 saving of approx. 13.5 kg per LED street light equipped with a lixtec radar sensor. This impressively underlines the positive impact of our technology on the environment.
There are currently around 6,000 sensors in use, controlling up to 10,000 luminaires. If all these luminaires were located in Austria, with an average power consumption of 35 watts per luminaire and an average traffic volume, this would correspond to an annual CO2 saving of approximately 133 tonnes. In Germany, with its different electricity mix, it would be around 440 tonnes of CO2 savings per year.
lixtec has set itself an ambitious goal: by 2030, we want to have one million sensor units in use worldwide and thus play a key role in shaping the future of urban lighting.
UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Graz Climate Pact
The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are our compass for responsible action. Our business model contributes to SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities. After all, smart street lighting is the backbone of a future-oriented energy infrastructure that has a significant impact on the quality of life and safety in our cities.
To further strengthen our commitment, we have joined the Graz Climate Pact. To this end, we will conduct a corporate sustainability survey in 2025. The results will be published here in the fourth quarter.
